Screening for Plagiarism Policy

Every manuscript submitted to LARE is screened using a similarity detection tool during the initial assessment and may be checked again before publication when necessary.

The recommended similarity threshold is a maximum of 20%, after excluding the reference list, properly cited quotations, and common phrases. However, the similarity percentage is not the sole basis for editorial decisions. Unusual similarity with a single source will be substantively evaluated even when the overall similarity score is below the specified threshold.

Editors assess the form, sources, context, and substance of the detected similarities, rather than relying solely on the overall percentage. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, excessive self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, or source manipulation may be rejected.

Authors may be asked to correct citations, quotations, and paraphrasing before the manuscript proceeds to the next stage. If misconduct is discovered after publication, LARE may take appropriate action, including issuing a correction, retracting the article, or applying other measures proportionate to the severity of the violation.
